Aging is inevitable, so why fight it?!?!
Instead, let’s age gracefully like gentle rivers and dancers who are “in the flow!”
When you are angry and disappointed in your aging body, your mind works against you. Your distressed state causes stress hormones - namely cortisol - to be released by your adrenal glands.
If you continue to criticize your “deficiencies” like wrinkles, joint pain, or weight gain, cortisol levels remain too high and cause tissue damage, exacerbating the aging process. In other words, long-term internal stress accelerates the condition in which you are fighting against!
My Suggestion: AGE GRACEFULLY. Be willing to change course yet keep moving. Be willing to change the dance yet keep dancing.
From my experience as a physical therapist, letting go of the fight leads to a happier flow state. In turn, this happiness promotes physical health and longevity!
